enertour: architecture, energy & design
Enertour destination – modern and sustainable construction is prized very highly in South Tyrol. The chalet “La Pedevilla” is a convincing example of this. Sophisticated in terms of its architectural design, it is nevertheless just as impressive in its sustainable energy concept as well as its unique design.
Architecture, Energy & Design: the chalet ”La Pedevilla” in the community of Enneberg unites these three themes in one single building. The young architects Armin Pedevilla and Caroline Willeit (Pedevilla Architects) have built, a holiday home adjoining their own home, and allowed their own ideas and inspirations to roam freely. The result was a project which won the 7th South Tyrol Architecture Prize (in the category living + the audience prize) and also the “best architects 15” Award. They have also been nominated for the renowned architectural prize “Buildings of the Year 2014” and the “German Design Award 2015”.
The idiosyncratically shaped building complex nestles in the heart of the Dolomites at a height of 1,200 metres above sea-level. The two slightly off-set structures – the permanent residence and the chalet which is available for hire – appear to be gently inserted into the hillside and therefore correspond to the traditional construction style of the village. The building was cast from fair faced concrete shot through with dolomite stone. Swiss stone pine and larch from the surrounding area were used and the trees were felled during the correct phase of the moon in the year before construction began. The overhanging wooden cladding on all sides pays tribute to the wooden façades of the old buildings in the hamlet of Pliscia where the building complex is situated. Untreated and hand-planed Swiss stone pine is used extensively inside both houses for flooring, doors, windows and furniture, creating an atmospheric interplay with the white fair faced concrete walls, ceilings, and parts of the flooring.
A water source of its own, geothermal energy, passive use of the sun’s energy and a photovoltaic installation integrated into the roof, all these render the building energy neutral. The house was also awarded the quality mark “CasaClima A”.
Enertour is now offering its own package on the topic of “architecture, energy & design”. Outstanding projects can be visited in the whole of South Tyrol. The chalet “Pedevilla” forms part of this programme and can, for example, be visited from January 2015 as part of the KLIMAHOUSE trade fair. Interested parties are invited to send a request for a visit in advance by e-mail (email@example.com) and you will be contacted to agree a suitable date.
